The Auray WSS-2012 Professional Windshield is a slip-on wind-protection solution for shotgun microphones used in film production, broadcasting, interviews, field recording, and professional location sound. Its 360-degree design helps reduce unwanted broadband wind noise and vocal plosives while maintaining acoustic transparency and minimizing high-frequency loss.

A specially manufactured open-cell foam matrix is surrounded by a 25 mm faux-fur covering. This diffusion system lowers wind velocity within the controlled airspace around the microphone, helping capture clearer dialogue, sound effects, and ambient audio without noticeably muffling the recording.

An airtight tapered rubber base seals around the rear of the microphone to improve isolation and rear wind protection. The windshield is designed for use in light to strong breezes from 4 to 25 mph and can provide approximately 24 to 40 dB of wind-noise reduction depending on environmental conditions.

The slip-on design has a 4.7-inch / 12 cm inside depth and accommodates shotgun microphones measuring 0.75 to 0.9 inch / 19 to 23 mm in diameter. It also helps shield the microphone from moisture and dirt during outdoor recording.
